RE: St. Savior’s

I have reached out to both the Attorney Generals office and the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission regarding preserving St. Savior’s church and property.

As you may already know, the Attorney Generals Office recommends the Committee to Save St. Savior’s retain a lawyer and proceed with legal action. They stated this is a decision best left to the courts.

I spoke with the chairman of the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission regarding my correspondence asking him for reconsideration of their decision not to landmark St. Saviors. He has agreed to review his file and look into the matter.

I certainly applaud your efforts to save St. Savior’s. It is reminds me of my struggle to save a Police Precinct and convert it into a Community Center known today as Maspeth Town Hall.

Attached is my correspondence to Chairman Tierney for your reference.

Good Luck.
