OVER DEVELOPMENT

May 4, 2006

Mr. Robert Tierney, Chairman
NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission
1 Centre Street, 9th Floor
New York, NY 10007

I am writing to you in support of the Juniper Park Civic Association’s proposal to grant landmark status to St. Savior’s church property at 57-40 57th Road, in Queens New York.

The Juniper Park Civic Association is proposing that the church, built in 1847, and the property be turned into a community asset. They have suggested that this location be converted into a headquarters for the Newtown Historical Society, a museum that would spotlight the history of Western Queens including the communities of Maspeth, Middle Village, Elmhurst, Glendale and Ridgewood. I support their effort to preserve this valuable open space in what is a predominantly industrial/residential area.

Please feel free to contact me at any time. My Chief of Staff, Todd Ferrara can be reached at (718) 263-5595 to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Andrew Hevesi,
Member of Assembly, 28th AD
