Author and historian "Bud" Livingston of the New York Civil War Round Table will present a lecture on "NYC and the Civil War." He will include such topics as, "the mayor who wanted to secede", "the unconvicted murderer who became a pseudo-hero at Gettysburg," and the "strangest regiment ever assembled."
Bud Livingston, author of "New York and the Civil War" is a graduate of Queens College and Resident of Glendale. He is the past president of the Civil War Round Table of New York, and a well known lecturer, tour guide, and public speaker on the Civil War in the metro area.
Learn about the Mayor who wanted to secede from New York, the murderer who became a hero a Gettysburg, the regiment whose orders were in seven languages, why New York City did not want the war, how it got out of control in July 1863, and the attempt to burn it down in 1864. and if this is not enough, we will find time to talk about John Wilkes Booth, Abraham Lincoln, P.T. Barnum, The original Siamese Twins, General Tom Thumb,
Winston Churchill's grandfather and much more!

Ray Pickett, the great-great-great grand nephew of Major General George Pickett will lecture on his famous uncle. His talk dispels the myths that developed around the general and the falsehoods about his role in "Pickett’s Charge" at Gettysburg.
Ray Pickett, the great-great-great grand nephew to Major General George E. Pickett will lecture on the interesting complicated life of this distinguished general’s life. Often maligned, General Pickett remains a complex mystery.
Ray, a Queens native and the great -great-great grandson of Major Chas. F. Pickett, has indeed kept a keen interest in The War Between The States since he has been able to walk. Becoming a Confederate re-enactor 28 years ago in time for the Bicentennial celebrations in 1976, Pickett picked up the rifle for his newly adopted country. It has been a labor of love for him.
Now Commanding The 57th Va. Infy Co.13, Captain Ray Pickett and The 57th Va. have given numerous demos for schools and associations.
Ray also is chairman of the "Pickett Society." Ray also is also a member of The Sons Of The Confederacy and The Military Order Of The Stars & Bars lending them support. In addition to the military research, Ray has modeled for Civil War artists Mort Kuntsler and Don Troiani, portrayed his ggg-grandfather in the theatrical release of "Gods & Generals."
Ray is also great grand nephew of Daniel Devlin. Daniel Devlin being the father of "Off-the-rack clothing, "chief executive officer of the Irish Brigades Executive Committee, and City Comptroller at the time of the Civil War.
