The World Trade Center: A Forum for Our Community to
Express Its Vision for Rebuilding and Memorializing the World Trade Center
Site
What have we lost as a result of September 11? How have we changed? What
should happen on the World Trade Center site in the future?
These questions will be examined on Monday, April 1, at 7:30 PM, when
the Greater Astoria Historical Society, in partnership with the Municipal
Art Society and the Pratt Institute Center of Community Development, is
pleased to present 'THE WORLD TRADE CENTER' at Quinn's Gallery, 35-20
Broadway, LIC, NY. This lecture with slides is another edition in the
Society's acclaimed lecture series.
This event is a part of a series of public "visioning" workshops
in the tri-state area called 'Imagine New York' where people throughout
the region will come together to voice their opinions, ideas, concerns
and visions for the future of the New York after the World Trade Center
tragedy.
In addition to ideas for rebuilding and memorializing the World Trade
Center site, these visions can encompass concerns for equitable development,
access to jobs and transportation, environmental quality, housing, and
the cultural future of the city. The ideas that emerge from the workshop
will be presented to the people and institutions that make decisions on
the future of the World Trade Center site.
We invite the community to reach out to your friends and neighbors. We
believe it is critical that your ideas and issues are included. We are
convinced that when the public's voices are gathered, the strength of
ideas will prevail.
